Field Trips

All field trips will occur at the same time on April 6, so each participant should choose the field trip to participate. There will be a maximum of 48 participants accepted for each trip. Please considered that the participants will travel by bus and that some field trips could include walks in rough paths.

Participation fees include travel, insurance and a lunch bag. Arrival times are estimates. More accurate times will be updated as detailed itinerary information becomes available.


Field Trip A - Conservation measures for roads and powerlines, Project LIFE LINES intervention area. Monfurado Natura 2000 site; Almendres Megalithic site; City of Montemor-o-Novo.

Field Trip B - New railway connection between Évora and Elvas/Caia. Elvas (UNESCO world heritage city).

Field Trip C - Mitigation for Iberian lynx (roads) and steppe birds (fences and power lines). Guadiana Natural Park; Castro Verde UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve; Mértola historic village.

Field Trip D - Water Irrigation channels and fauna passages - Alqueva water dam and reservoir. Medieval village of Monsaraz.

Field Trip E - Mitigation measures for steppe birds at the new High-Velocity Train corridor. Special Protection Area of Llanos de Cáceres y Sierra de Fuentes, Spain; Cáceres (UNESCO World Heritage city).

Field Trip F - Roadkill mitigation measures for the Iberian lynx. Donãna National Park; El Rocío.

The fee to the Project LIFE LINES intervention area trip (Field Trip A) corresponds to the payment of the lunch, as the travel for this visit will be supported by the LIFE LINES project.
